Dr. Prasad-Gaur has an extensive background and training in child development and clinical child and adolescent psychology and has worked with children and families in various school and clinical settings. She earned her doctorate in School Psychology at Texas A&M University in 1998. She received her training in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry, Newark, NJ and at Sheppard Pratt Health System, Baltimore, MD where she continued to work as a Staff Psychologist at the Forbush School, a non-public special education school, kindergarten through grade 12, for seriously emotionally disturbed children and adolescents. In meeting the therapeutic needs of the students, along with providing individual and group therapy she collaboratively worked with a Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) of child psychiatrists, social workers, special educators, speech pathologists, and occupational therapists towards promoting student academic success and social and emotional well being. She also served in the capacity of the Clinical Coordinator for the elementary and middle school programs to address the clinical needs of the students by adopting effective and empirically validated intervention strategies within the classrooms. She has treated children/teens with severe depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder and other anxiety-related disorders, post traumatic stress, bipolar disorder, ADHD, learning disabilities, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, adjustment difficulties, adoption related issues, Asperger's disorder, and pervasive developmental disorders, among others.
